Elizabeth Guzman for Congress: Latina, Labor Leader, People’s Champion

“For years, Elizabeth Guzman has sought to elevate the voice of the immigrant community statewide, spearheading legislative campaigns that center the needs of Virginia’s diverse communities. As a Delegate, she has successfully supported various bills, such as healthcare expansions, paid sick days, more school counselors, and the removal of Virginia’s ban on collective bargaining in the public sector. These are just a few of the reasons that CASA in Action is proud to support her candidacy.”

Elizabeth Guzman is the first Latina immigrant elected to the General Assembly and serves as Vice-Chair of the Education Committee and Chair of the Social Services Subcommittee. As a Delegate, Guzman introduced a paid sick days bill every year and successfully fought for driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants, earning an award from Drive Virginia Forward for her efforts and the removal of Virginia’s ban on collective bargaining in the public sector.
