ATLANTA, GEORGIA – Black and brown voter mobilization powerhouse, CASA in Action, is proud to announce Michelle Sanchez as Georgia’s Voter Engagement Manager.

Sanchez said she was approached to run for the Georgia State House in 2016. The journey “made me realize that I had a passion for speaking truth to justice,” she said. “I started with canvassing for the Bernie Sanders campaign,” and then worked her way up the political organizing field.

As CASA in Action’s Georgia elections manager, she develops and implements people-powered field operations programs to increase the share of the electorate with voters from working families and immigrant communities in the state. Michelle brings years of electoral and advocacy experience in Georgia, centering the voices of directly impacted people while organizing volunteers, directing programs and coordinating campaigns with progressive coalitions of the state. 

“Michelle Sanchez is joining the powerful CASA in Action team that helped deliver the major election victories of late, first with Biden’s election in November 2020 and then with Georgia’s runoff elections in January 2021,” said Alonzo Washington, CASA in Action Executive Director. 

While the Latino community continues to grow in Georgia, their voter turnout still remains lowest amongst all voters of color. CASA in Action’s plan focuses on engaging, persuading and mobilizing recently activated, newly registered, and infrequent Black and Latino voters in the core counties of Fulton, Henry and Clayton. With the Georgia strategy, this people of color-led organization will host a multilayered voter contact strategy with integrated field operations and communications outreach to influence their voter participation.
