Statement on Potential Trump Omnibus Veto Due to Lack of DREAMer Protections

LANGLEY PARK, MD (FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2018) – Gustavo Torres, President of CASA in Action, issued the following statement after Trump announced a potential veto of the $1.3 trillion government funding bill because it fails to protect beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

“Exploiting DREAMers to secure more funding for his ridiculous border wall is the latest in Trump’s litany of morally reprehensible actions. We can’t forget that he fabricated this crisis, leaving undocumented youth to face this sick uncertainty about their future. DREAMers are not toys he can take out and play with whenever it strikes his fancy. They are talented young people that want to study, work, and live in the country they love. We look to Congress now more than ever for a permanent, legislative solution that protects DREAMers.”
