NORFOLK, VA— In response to the official results of the 2023 elections in Virginia’s 94th District, CASA in Action’s Electoral Deputy Director, Marvin Hernandez issued the following statement. CASA in Action canvassed 89,908 doors since August 24, 2023 and had 22,921 conversations with voters in an energizing 9-week program.
“Tonight, the CASA in Action team and the diverse immigrant communities of Hampton Roads are jubilant, for our advocate, Phil Hernandez, has been elected as the VA Delegate for District 94! Our efforts were particularly impactful in the precincts of Norfolk and the 94th District, and it’s heartening to see that our hard work has paid off. We take immense pride in our role in turning out voters for this crucial election. Phil’s victory signifies a triumph for immigrant families who yearn for solutions to our nation’s immigration challenges and for the countless working-class Virginians who are striving for improved wages, healthcare, and education. Our communities can be confident that they have a dedicated champion in Phil Hernandez in the Virginia House of Delegates for the next term.”
By the cycle’s end, CASA in Action had three teams of 30 canvassers and volunteers committed to strengthening the voices and influence of underrepresented communities, knocking doors until Tuesday, November 7. In addition to in-person contact, CASA in Action’s communications campaign included digital ads persuading voters to cast their ballots for endorsed candidates. Voters saw targeted video ads 6,334,981 times on their cell phones and desktops, leading to over 9,900 clicks through Election Day.
