How do I register to vote in Maryland?

Submit a voter registration application either online or by mail to the Secretary of State’s Office.

When is the deadline to register to vote in Maryland?

A voter has until Tuesday, April 23, 2024 to register to vote for the November General Election.

Can I request an absentee ballot?

You can! If you’ve registered to vote you can apply for an absentee ballot using the Secretary of State’s online portal, or via email, mail or fax to your county registrar’s office. You’ll need to provide a driver’s license or state-issued ID.

I have moved recently or missed an election, how do I make sure I receive a ballot?

You can use the State Board of Election Portal to see what your most up-to-date information is, and make changes if you’ve moved.

How do I request my ballot electronically? Can I?

I want to vote/register to vote but I speak/understand Spanish better than English; do I have any options?

Maryland voter information website is available in Spanish. Click the language button at the top right to make site information available in other languages. We encourate voters that are Limited English Profecient to use tools like Google Translate to faciliate the understanding of the website content if it is needed. You can then submit your voter registration form online, or mail it to your local registration office. You can find your office based on which county and city you’re in at this link.

I haven't received my ballot in the mail and the election is getting closer! What should I do?

If you’re registered to vote and want to check where your local polling place is, you can check your voter profile on the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page portal. Additionally, you can call your local registration office, which you can look up here.
