Hundreds to Protest Toomey’s Refusal to Support Working Families Before Senate Debate

Philadelphia, PA (October 20, 2016) _ Organizations from all over Pennsylvania will gather with community members on Monday to host a rally outside of the Temple Performing Arts Center, where Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty will face off for their second debate.

Not only has Senator Toomey voted consistently against raising the minimum wage, he’s advocated for eliminating all corporate taxes so that Wall St. and the Fortune 500 companies never have to pay their fair share. The organizations will rally to make sure that Pat Toomey isn’t only hearing from lobbyists and corporate executives, but from all of his constituents.

The choice for Pennsylvania voters couldn’t be clearer: Pat Toomey is not a friend of working people. He has undermined Pennsylvania’s economy by refusing to support a $15/hour minimum wage, and the state is lagging behind our neighbors as a result. We can’t compete as a workforce without a promise of living wages.
